In Wisconsin, to prove battery, the prosecution must show the
defendant caused bodily harm to another by an act done with
intent to cause bodily harm to that person or another and
without the consent of the person harmed. This is a class A
misdemeanor in Wisconsin. If the act causes substantial bodily
harm the defendant can be charged with a class I felony in
Wisconsin. If the act causes great bodily harm, the defendant
can be charged with a class H felony in Wisconsin.
